Letter to Parents - March 31, 2020

Dear Lincoln Elementary Parents/Guardians,

I wanted to reach out to everyone to inform parents/guardians of the plan to support students during this time.

Meals:

The state’s stay-at-home order allows for travel to pick up meals. Starting Tuesday, March 31, we will serve free “grab and go” meals for children age 1 to 18 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. weekdays at:

  • Sacajawea Elementary School
  • Van Buren Elementary School
  • Lincoln Elementary School
  • Lewis & Clark Elementary School
  • Caldwell High School

Free meals also are available 11 a.m. to noon weekdays at Farmway Village, provided by Oasis Food Center volunteers.

Families should stay in their cars and drive-thru as meals will be served curbside. Walk-ups are also welcome and will have a separate line with individuals keeping 6 feet apart. Meals should not be eaten on site. Unfortunately, meals are not available for adults.

Your child does not need to be a student at the site to receive a meal.

Devices:

Teachers have been asked to reach out to parents to help determine the need for devices to help support students during this time. We are going to assess what the need is and determine what we are able to provide to students. Most of the communication from teachers will go through ClassDojo or email. If you are not on ClassDojo or are not able to get email, teachers will reach out through other means. This might include a call through Google and this number may show up as a number from New York or a blocked/unknown number.

If Lincoln decides to check out Chromebooks, parents/guardians will be taking full responsibility for the device. You will be held responsible for any damage or the loss of the device. We will need to sign a checkout agreement before you borrow a device. Once we are aware of the need for devices, we will determine whether or not we will distribute devices.

Emergency Educational Learning Resources (EELRs):

Teachers are currently working on providing educational resources to families. These packets will not be collected nor will they be graded. These packets are resources to help students maintain and practice skills. We will have these packets available digitally and for pick up at Lincoln Elementary. Packets will be available for pick on April 6th from 10:00am - 12:00pm. The materials shared are designed to cover two weeks of resources. While picking up resources, please remember social distancing expectations. Some students, specifically those who see Mrs. Carlisle, Mrs. Lootens, and Ms. Norris, will have an additional packet that can be used in place of the grade level packets or as a supplement to the grade level packet. Packets are available on Lincoln’s website on the Parents tab - under “School Closure Resources and Packets”. It is linked here: School Closure Resources and Packets. Packet pick up will be a thru system. Please stay in your car and be patient while we distribute these resources.

Office Hours:

Lincoln Office hours will be limited during this time. We will be available for phone calls only from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm Monday-Friday. Please do not visit the school. Only authorized personnel are allowed in the building. Parents and students will not be allowed to enter the building.

If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
